Megacorp, LensTech and The Megaverse

Introducing Megacorp. The destiny we deserved…

Long gone are the days when governments ran the world. The new dystopian era is controlled and designed by Megacorp, a conglomerate that seized control of the world’s supply chains in the early 2000s. Megacorp is the teat from which we suck. They drip feed a futile existence to the many and bank on the power and freedom they can grant to the few. Through acts of espionage and bribery, world governments and their economies act on their behalf.

Welcome to humanities new owner.

Since gaining their power, Megacorp has funded research and development to ensure their position of dominance is solidified. With supply chains of all kinds leading to their doors, there is no limit to what Megacorp could invent and manufacture. Their limitless ability to create, sell and own any asset on Earth gave them the rulings over what assets humanity would possess. Financial services, technology, medicine, housing, food, drink, were now owned by Megacorp. This also meant, that Megacorp had the choice to restrict certain things from humanity. Which they did, and in due course, they were able to capture the soul of humanity through the combination of two products, LensTech and The Megaverse.

Before releasing their products, they began by reducing our access to technology. Computers and the internet were once something we could gain access to with ease. But bit by bit, byte by byte, Megacorp increased their market share within computer hardware. Once they had achieved a dominant supply, they would start to deploy updates, or as they became known, ‘M.C Downgrades’. During these updates, the product would downgrade itself. Becoming slower and slower until a point where computer technology became redundant. They used their funds to purchase any computers that were not downgraded and like magic, computers were gone. Once this was achieved, LensTech and The Megaverse were brought to the market.

LensTech was a small contact lens that removed the human dependency on smartphones. After years of carrying around a mini computer in our pockets, humanity was burned out on smartphones. No matter how thin or light they became, it was inevitable that at some point, they would have to become part of us, rather than an accessory. LensTech was the answer. Or at least, that’s what was sold to us. It was an immediate hit. Just like the iPhone. It was comical not to have one. At work, if you didn’t have LensTech, you’d fall behind your peers. At school, you’d be teased for not having it. Children would beg their parents to get them LensTech for their birthday. Even newborn babies of the upper classes were raised with LensTech showing them their bedtime stories or cartoons.

LensTech had evolved humans to a higher level. There was no option to be left behind.

The funding Megacorp gained from LensTech was formidable. Once they had acquired such wealth, they then made moves to protect their dominance. Their checkmate on the world, was to release a Metaverse technology known as The Megaverse. At the time, different Metaverse products were still storming the market. But eventually the metaverse soon became ‘The Megaverse’. Any competitors were bought out and their competing products then littered with bugs and glitches. Once Megacorp had gained total dominion of the metaverse, they soon began to increase their user’s exposure to adverts. To fully utilise The Megaverse , users nowadays have to enjoy 15 minutes of ad watching with their morning routine. Once their ad watching was complete, they were then free to use The Megaverse for the remainder of the day. Remember, the Megaverse was accessible only through LensTech. This meant that these adverts weren’t like the old ads we were used to. They can’t be skipped. You can’t simply look away or do something else. The advert is playing inside your head. If you don’t complete your 15 minutes morning ad session, at any point in the day you could be interrupted by a series of adverts. If you missed a day’s ad break, then it was added to the following day’s ad break. People would genuinely boast about keeping their adbreak clear and in order, but many would fail and spend days catching up on their ads. I can’t count the amount of times I would see someone running out of a meeting to finish their ad break. Pausing a conversation to watch their ad break. Pulling over to the side walk to watch their ad break. It was funny at first, but the novelty soon wore off.

The final metaverse play was to design LensTech to be irremovable. After multiple upgrades, the world was sold into having the lens inserted into the eye, rather than a floating lens. At this point, The Megaverse was unstoppable. It had total utter control over the human species. Humans were now set to endure 24/7 data storage of their every activity. 24/7 exposure to advertising. LensTech could even control when you sleep.

I thank the lord for the brief moment in time when invention was still possible. If Megacorp had arrived any sooner, Alfa wouldn’t be here with us. In her initial years, Megacorp were the main attacker against Alfa. They saw Alfa as a threat to their global position, and to this day, she is still hunted by Megacorp. Alfa’s mission is to rid the world of Megacorp. To bring freedom back to supply chains and to embrace the times of old.

Before I go, a quick message from Alfa.

‘I want to change the world. It won’t be easy. It will take time. Cleaning the wound is often more painful than the cut itself. My warriors are here to help us in this fight. They are here for your protection. Join us.’
